There are many ways to dispose of your Christmas tree but have you ever considered donating it to a wild life sanctuary to be used as a shelter for orphaned and injured animals?
Wild ARC, a shelter for orphaned or injured wild animals, in Metchosin is asking locals to donate their live Christmas trees as enrichment for their wild patients.
Wild ARC says once a tree is cleared of all ornaments and tinsel, it can be used as shelter, or even a toy for certain animals.
They say on their Facebook page they are not able to arrange tree pickups, but if you're able to find a ride for your conifer, their wild patients will very much appreciate the added greenery.
Trees can be dropped off at their centre at 1020 Malloch Road between 8AM - 4:30PM every day.
