An arraignment hearing for the man charged in the death of West Shore RCMP Cst. Sarah Beckett has been pushed back two weeks.
The delay is to allow for the completion of an investigation being conducted by the Independent Investigations Office, which is expected in the next few days.
Kenneth Jacob Fenton did not appear at today's court appearance in Colwood. His lawyer, Dale Marshall, says the delay is necessary so they have full disclosure prior to entering a plea.
Fenton is facing charges that include impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and flight from police causing death. Cst. Beckett was killed last April when her police cruiser was struck by another vehicle at a Langford intersection.
The arraignment hearing has been rescheduled for February 9.
