British Columbia's annual family literacy week is shifting its focus to food this year with the theme 'What's on My Plate'.
The provincial government says communities will be holding events this week focused on snacks and food-related activities, including free pancake breakfasts and pizza parties, to encourage reading. Family Literacy Week activities continue Jan. 21-28.
For the past 18 years, the Province has proclaimed Jan. 27 as Family Literacy Day.
Anne Cooper with Decoda Literacy Solutions says they're asking families to read and share recipes as a way of developing a love for reading.
In Sooke Award Winning Storyteller David Bouchard will entertain families with his stories and music.
