BC's Attorney General says a request to install interval cameras on the Malahat hasn't landed on his desk yet, but it's something he wants to look at.
Speaking on CFAX David Eby says unlike photo radar, which some argue is a revenue generator rather than a tool that changes driver behavior, Interval cameras are different:
"The reason I feel the interval cameras are different and why they're worth looking at is if people know there's a 100% chance that f they speed above a certain level that they will receive a ticket in a certain stretch of road, it will actually cause them to slow down. And that's why I think it's interesting, and pending the posts and public support for that kind of approach we're certainly looking at it."
Eby says he wants to find methods that can be put in place quickly, and have a significant impact on accidents rates.
