It's time to butt out on BC Ferries.
All BC Ferries vessels and terminals will become smoke-free beginning Monday January 22nd.
The new policy applies to cigarettes, cigars and e-cigarettes.
"This new policy supports the health and wellness of our customers and our employees by reducing exposure to second-hand smoke," said Mark Collins, BC Ferries' President and CEO. "The policy aligns with other transportation services and ensures everyone using our services can breathe smoke-free air."
Signs are posted and smoking aids will be sold in some of the shops.
The company expects the transition will be more of an educational process as opposed to a crackdown.
