A statement expected from the special advisor to BC Legislature Speaker Daryl Plecas to the media this afternoon turned out to be no more than a very brief announcement.
Alan Mullen refused to answer reporters questions about the nature of the allegations against 2 senior legislative officials.
Mullen simply emerged from his office to say a second special advisor is being brought on to advise the Speaker on legal matters -- retired judge and Attorney General, Wally Oppal.
" The second special advisor is the honourable Justice Wally Oppal. We could not be more honoured and pleased that Justice Oppal has agreed to come on as second special advisor and we look forward to meeting with him tomorrow morning. That'll be it. Thank you. "
Meantime an Acting Clerk and Acting Sergeant-at-Arms were sworn in this afternoon at the BC Legislature.
The current Deputy Clerk and Clerk of Committees, Kate Ryan-Lloyd, has been appointed Acting Clerk. The Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms, Randy Ennis, will fulfill the duties of Acting Sergeant-at-Arms until further notice.
