The Island Highway was rumbling with the sounds of Harley's as outlaw motorcycle gang, Hells Angels rode from Nanaimo to their clubhouse in Langford Saturday.
CFAX listener Mike lives across from the clubhouse. "The (police) helicopter arrived first, I guess they were following the riders but right after the helicopter arrived the biker's arrived."
Mounties and special gang unit members, including a chopper, escorted the riders.
It's estimated 150 bikers, including "full patch" Angel's took part in the memorial ride, in part, to honour a prospect murdered earlier this month.
39-year-old Sooke man Michael Gregory Widner's remains were discovered along the Pacific Marine route near Port Renfrew.
RCMP later confirmed that Widner had known connections to the motorcycle gang and that his death was being investigated as a homicide.
Mounties were out in force to monitor the ride and ensure public safety.
