The City of Victoria is detailing some of the road closures and other activity surrounding the royal visit Saturday.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will make their only public appearance of the day on the lawn of the BC legislature. That's at 5pm.
However, parking restrictions in a large area surrounding the legislature begin as early as 6 o’clock Saturday morning.
Road closures will follow, starting around noon. Those road closures will include parts of Belleville, Government, Superior, Menzies, Wharf, Humbolt and more. See the map above, provided by the Victoria staff, for the full details.
The city says, because of the expected large crowds, people are asked to leave unnecessary items such as backpacks, bags, and lawn chairs at home.
They also point out the use of drones in the area is prohibited, although that's the case all year round in the Inner Harbour because it’s an active flight zone.
There’s more to the preparations than just parking and road closures. The City says their parks department is busy making sure all the areas Prince William and Kate will visit are looking their best. Hanging flower baskets are being relocated and flower beds are being replanted.
The President of the Monarchist League of Canada’s Victoria Branch, Monique Goffinet Miller, says the Duke of Duchess of Cambridge's visit to Victoria tomorrow maybe the one of the biggest royal visits the city has ever hosted.
She predicted a massive crowd while speaking with C-FAX 1070’s Al Ferraby this morning. "If you imagine how busy the TC 10k can be, then add on the symphony splash and then on top of that maybe even Canada Day. There are going to be so many people lining the streets that, if people are wanting to get a prime location to see that royal couple up against that red carpet, they're going to need to arrive pretty darn early."
Stay tuned to C-FAX for a special royal visit broadcast from 3pm to 7pm Saturday.
