Steel fabrication work is in the final stages in China on parts for the new Johnson Street Bridge.
Crews are now test-fitting the bridge deck, trusses and massive steel rings.
The City of Victoria’s website shows the massive rails, deck, rings and other critical components being assembled.
The dry fit is being done so engineers can double check dimensions and make sure all of their calculations correspond to make sure the steel fabrication meets the design standards.
It will be shipped in two sections and will arrive in Victoria in July and August.
The bridge was budgeted for $63-million and the price tag has now gone over $100-million.
The city says cars and bicycles should be driving over the new bridge by late 2017, almost three years behind schedule.
