Canada's first National Cannabis Conference is underway today and tomorrow at Crystal Garden.
An estimated 400 people are expected to attend the two day event, which features a series of workshops, general information about legislation updates, and rules and regulations.
Conference founder Bradley Sawyer said the negative mindset on pot needs to change.
'I believe there is still a stigma around cannabis, but part of the goal is to remove the stigma. It is going to become a legal business and the opportunities around it aren't just in the cannabis industry, it going to go well beyond that, the heating business; lighting business.'
Saturday's activities include a trade show where visitors can discover what local merchants have to offer.
'We'll be discussing cannabis as a medicine, as well as how to transition from this grey market currently into the new legalized market. Under the new proposed regulations, we want to provide people with some tips and tricks,' said Sawyer.
The National Cannabis Conference runs 9am to 5pm Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20 at the door.
