The Downtown Victoria Business Association's next park and ride project is coming to Douglas Street between Topaz and Summit near the Super 8 Motel.
Starting May 1st, 40 parking spaces will open to commuters at the price of $120. For that price, you also get a bus pass so you can continue your trip into the city.
It's the second park and ride the DVBA has created in partnership with BC Transit and Robbins Parking. The first one, also on Douglas Street, is across from the Mayfair Shopping Centre.
Both lots are in response to complains that it's getting harder for commuters to find a place to park in downtown Victoria. The DVBA also hopes that getting more commuters into these lots will free scarce parking downtown for shoppers and other visitors.
At the same time, the City of Victoria has rolled out a pilot project to allow commuter parking on some streets in areas just outside the downtown core.
The $90-to-$100 dollar passes cover select blocks of Discovery, Pembroke, Princess, Kimta, and Government.
For now, it's just a trial period with 40 people taking part.
