The mother of a boy that went missing 26 years ago in Victoria continues to hold hope her son is out there somewhere.
On March 24, 1991, Michael Dunahee disappeared from the playground of the Blanshard Elementary school, spawning a massive police investigation that continues to be a mystery.
“Someone knows something,” says Crystal Dunahee. “We are just looking for that right piece of information to give us the answers we are looking for.”
In the meantime, the family held a mass today in Michael’s honour, who would be 30 years of age now.
“There’s always hope out there and if anything, it’s helped prevent any more occurrences of missing children.”
Dunahee says she continues to pass on tips garnered through the public and social media to police investigators who say they are remained committed to finding Michael.
“We continue to receive tips through our dedicated tip line,” Missing Person Detective Cst. Chantal Ziegler said. “We still hope to receive the one tip we need to bring this investigation to a close.”
There will also be a charity event called the Michael Dunahee Keep the Hope Alive fun run to raise money for Child Find B-C. on Sunday held in Esquimalt.
