DVBA announces "Park and Ride" to help parking woes
The Downtown Victoria Business Association has announced the launch of the first ever “Park and Ride.”
On April 1st, commuters will be able to park at a site near the corner of Douglas Street and Frances Avenue and then step onto a bus that will take them downtown.
The park and ride will be managed by Robbins Parking with 53 spaces available.
The DVBA says the initiative is in response to business owners’ complaints of employees not having places to park in the downtown area.
The DVBA, Pattison Group, BC Transit, City of Victoria and BC Transit are all collaborating to make it happen.
Parking fees have not been announced by Robbins but the company says it will be offering a $100 monthly rate that includes a parking space and a monthly bus pass.
