With the deadline for investigations into VicPD Chief Constable Frank Elsner due to expire today, the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner is granting an extension.
Commissioner Stan Lowe has okayed a request from Chief Superintendent Bourrie for more time after investigation turned up 7 more witnesses to be interviewed. As well, Bourrie stated a previously interviewed witness provided new information that will require a follow up interview with Elsner.
As such the time to complete the ongoing investigations involving allegations against Chief Frank Elsner has ben extended to January 26, 2017.
Under the police act theCommissioner may grant an extension if he's satisfied new leads are uncovered that could not have been revealed with reasonable care, the case or investigation is unusually complex, or an extension is in the public interest.
In order to protect the integrity of the investigations the OPCC says it will not comment further on the extensions.
