Victoria Police are recommending assault and animal cruelty charges for a man who allegedly attacked his roommate and her cat.
It reportedly happened at a residence on the 600 block of Head Street in Esquimalt on August 1st.
Police say the woman reports arriving home in the evening to find her cat missing and blood inside her shared residence.
Her defiant house mate reportedly wouldn't tell her where the cat was, only that it had bitten him-- before he allegedly assaulted her and took off on his bike.
Police were called in and were able to track down the man a short while later but he still refused to give the whereabouts of the cat.
Police searched the property and eventually found the cat inside a cat carrier which appeared to have been in a large amount of water in an industrial waste container.
The cat was brought to the animal hospital in clear medical distress and the woman is now facing large a large medical bill.
An Esquimalt man is facing one charge of assault and once charge animal neglect and cruelty.
The cat is said to be recovering according to police and the woman was not physically injured.
