Next week the province will say farewell to the woman who has served as Lieutenant-Governor over the past 5 years.
There will be a farewell ceremony for Judith Guichon at the Legislature Monday.
Guichon has used her tenure in office to work on her priority programs, such as "Stewards of the Future" with high school students, and highlighting the contributions of British Columbians who work on the land.
Guichon herself is a rancher from the BC interior.
But, she acknowledges many will likely remember her for rejecting another election, and inviting the NDP's John Horgan to take over governing BC.
"Well, it decided the future of the province for a very brief time. And what I've been very pleased with is so far the government is functioning, the legislature is carrying on, and doing what the politicians are elected to do -- they're governing. So as far as I'm concerned things are going ahead as they should."
Guichon says it has been a great honour holding the post of this province's Lieutenant-Governor for the past 5 years. She will be replaced by Lieutenant Governor-Designate Janet Austin, who has served as the CEO of Metro Vancouver YM-YWCA.
