Saanich police have arrested 2 women for an incident in the 4200 block of Commerce Circle Thursday morning.
Police they were called to the Office of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada just after 8:30 am where the doors had been chained shut, trapping employees inside.
The women were trying to draw attention to the practice of open pen Atlantic salmon farming in BC waters. Officers spoke with the women who were seated in front of the main entrance of the building and asked them to remove the chains from the doors - but they refused.
According to police the women agreed that if they were arrested for mischief they would peacefully give the key to Officers and go with them. That's what happened.
It's anticipated the women will be placed on conditions not to go near the property, and will appear before the courts at a later date.
