14-year-old Megan Barnes, an up and coming cyclist with Team BC, has now been released from hospital and her Dad Darrell says she is doing well considering how hard she was hit last night (Friday) while training on Willis Point road.
Saanich police are now looking for the driver of a grey late model Dodge Dakota pickup truck, which may have damage on the front right side of the vehicle where it struck Megan and sent her flying into the ditch.
Saanich Traffic sergeant Alan Gurzinski, was on scene. Eyewitness reports indicate there may have been an altercation between Megan and the driver of the pickup prior to the collision. The driver is described as a blonde - heavy set female. She is said to have swerved directly into Megan on her bike, slowed briefly and then sped away West on Willis Point Road.
