Hundreds of demonstrators have begun the Walk for the Salish Sea which began Thursday morning at Mile Zero in Victoria and will end in Burnaby on Sunday.
It's a four-day, 75 kilometer march against the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline.
Federal Green Party leader, Elizabeth May is joining the journey and says the federal government has made a huge mistake in approving the pipeline when they don't have the technology to clean an up oil spill if it were to occur.
"Bitumen mixed with diluent cannot be cleaned up. That's critical information to know when you've got the pipeline crossing 700 individual water crossings between the BC-Alberta border and Burnaby and then again through the Salish Sea."
The contingent boards a BC ferry Friday afternoon bound for the Lower Mainland.
The rally wraps up Sunday at the Kinder Morgan Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby.
