People from around the world and here on the island are celebrating the Lunar New Year today.
More than 500 people turned out for a Chinese feast at Our Place. Sweet and sour pork, fried rice and chow mein were on the menu. Charlayne Thornton-Joe says it's important to start the year off with an abundance of happiness and food. "Especially in the Chinese culture it is very important to start the New Year with a lot of happiness and we want to share that happiness with members of our community."
Local Non Profit groups sponsor the feast ever year.
This year's Lion Dance is set to take place tomorrow (Sunday) at 11:00 a.m. near the Gates of Harmonious Interest in Chinatown on Fisgard St.
