One resident in Langford is voicing concerns about the lack of clarity in decision in Langford.
J. Scott, a resident on Fairway Avenue in Langford says there is a development proposal for an area between Goldstream Avenue and Fairway Avenue, but no information is publicly available.
“No one will show me any plans. I keep asking to see the plans, I asked the developer Design Build Services, they declined to send me any plans,” Scott says. “I talked to the planning and zoning department, they said they have the plans they’re going to present them to city council but they won’t show them to me before they go to city council.”
She says during the pandemic the City of Langford suspended public hearings, so she is concerned she won’t get a chance to voice her concerns to council.
“Langford waived public hearings during the time of COVID, which means the public isn’t getting involved,” Scott says. “The people who live on this street are going to be so affected we need to be involved in every step of the process, it’s the democratic process. It’s what happened pre-COVID open city council meetings every step of the way. It’s very upsetting.”
Scott says in 2019 the development was initially proposed as a 6-storey apartment building - but she has since heard the plans have been changed to an 11-storey unit.
She says there is no signs up at the development site indicating there is a proposal for development, and there is no information available on the city website.
