Tech giant Amazon has said let it be known they are looking for a location for a second headquarters somewhere in North America, and Langford Mayor Stew Young says why not here?
Young and his staff have been working on a pitch for the past 2 weeks. CTV Vancouver Island's Rob Buffam says Young already has a map with different parcels of land identified and suggets building houisng at Bear Mountain.
Buffam says the headquarters would mean a huge influx of high paying jobs - estimated at 50-thousand people making in excess of $100-thousand a year.
Young and his team propose the Amazon HQ would go somewhere on Leigh Road and proposes re-naming a section "Amazon Way". Vancouver is also vying for the headquarters, but Young argues Langford has cheaper land and more room.
