Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a man who allegedly stole close to 20 thousand dollars worth of rings.
Speaking with CTV Vancouver Island, RCMP Constable Gary O'Brien, says the theft occurred at Mappins Jewellery in the Woodgrove Centre on April 10th.
"He picked out four rings, very high end rings, total value of about $20,000. After handling them for a couple minutes, he turned and ran out the door. Last seen walking or running through The Bay."
The suspect got away with a yellow 14 karat gold band, a 1 karat round diamond, a white 14 karat gold band, and a 1.52 karat round diamond.
RCMP are searching for the suspect, who is described as a Caucasian man in his late 20's, weighing approximately 150 lbs. He was wearing a black zip-up sweater and black baggy pants. The clerk told officers that the suspects hands were cracked and dirty, with black smudges in many of the cracks, and officers suspect that he works with his hands.
