Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a male suspect who robbed a local business by locking himself in the bathroom overnight.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 11th, when the suspect, without the consent or knowledge of staff, locked himself in the store's bathroom at approximately 9 p.m. the night prior. He then hid in one of the stalls, waiting for the business to close for the night.
After all staff had exited the building for the night, the suspect emerged from the stall and proceed to climb up through the ceiling. He crawled along the ceiling tiles to the Loss Prevention Officer's office, then broke through the tiles and dropped down. The male then made his way into the main part of the store and stole a pair of computer monitors, before making a casual exit out the front door.
Authorities were called to the business the following morning after loss prevention officers reported the store's motion detector had been set off. Upon reviewing CCTV camera footage, police were able to determine the suspect entered the store through the main entrance at 9:06 pm the night prior.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and Nanaimo RCMP are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information on this incident or who knows of the identity of the male, is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
