The City of Victoria will start work on its latest installation of bike lanes Monday, on Fort Street.
These are the second set of bicycle lanes to be installed before the end of 2018.
The new two-way protected bike lanes will be built on the north side of Fort Street from Wharf to Cook Street. The City will also be enhancing crosswalks and sidewalks, adding new street trees and benches. The first phase of construction involves water main and sewer upgrades and improvements.
During construction, there will be temporary changes to bus stop locations and on-street parking, while access to local homes and businesses is maintained.
Construction of the new bike lanes is expected to be completed by May 2018.
