The V2V Empress completed its inaugural voyage over the weekend. The new high-end service set sail from the Vancouver Convention Centre Saturday morning, bound for Victoria harbour.
I was a smooth sailing, with flat seas and appearances by porpoises and whales for the launch of the service.
Hume Campbell, CEO of V2V, says the vessel does 30 knots as completes it's downtown to downtown service in 3.5 hours.
Campbell says while the V2V currently is making one round trip a day, Hume says that will be increased in the summer:
"And then we'll be stepping it up to 2 trips a day now that we've proven the operation, in July. And that will go for the summer, and then we'll come back to the one crossing a day in September. "
Hume says the service is seeing a wide variety of users, and included Victoria residents, business people needing to making meetings in Vancouver or Victoria, and tourists as well.
