Santa is about to make his inaugural global journey to deliver todays to millions of children worldwide.
Jolly Old Saint Nick will fly his packed sleigh from Australia and New Zealand to Asia and then to Africa and lastly from Europe to North America where he enters our airspace. He will be tracked by NORAD, which has a series of radar systems in the far north.
NORAD Spokesman Major Andrew Hennessay says NORAD has three main missions.
"Aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning in the defense of North America. But this fourth mission, NORAD tracks Santa is the one we get the most excited about and we're very happy to update children around the world, regardless of where they are, when Santa might come to their house."
Volunteers will answer phone calls and e-mails and post updates throughout the day, December 24th.
