An Oak Bay student has died from a suspected overdose. Parents at Oak Bay High school received a letter that a student in grade 11 died of a suspected unintentional drug overdose Friday morning.
The father of a Victoria teen who died from an accidental overdose says he wants to dispel the myth that teens who become involved in drugs are all bad kids. Brock Eurchuk says his 16-year-old son Elliot became addicted to painkillers after he was prescribed opioids for four surgeries last year.
Counselling is being set up for students by the Greater Victoria School District Critical Response Team at the high school. In the letter it said that Eurchuk attended Mount Douglas Secondary School as well as Oak Bay High School. There will be a memorial for Elliot Eurchuk later next week.
