A kitchen fire set off alarms Monday morning in an apartment building in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue in Victoria.
Fire crews were called out just after 8:30 a.m. and saw smoke coming from one of the suites on the first floor.
Residents evacuated the complex, and firefighters set up a ventilation system and extinguished the fire using a fire hose.
The fire was confined to the kitchen and there were no injuries.
Fire officials say one occupant has been displaced and is being temporarily cared for by Victoria Emergency Management and Emergency Social Services. All other residents were able to return to their homes.
Damage to the suite is estimated at about $100,000.
