A downtown Victoria Street notorious for drug activity is getting extra attention from police.
Victoria Police say extra resources have been assigned to the 800 block of Pandora Avenue as they work with neighbouring businesses to address the problem.
The move comes after three videos surfaced online of drug trafficking in the area.
“Members of the Community Services Division and Patrol division have made this area a priority and enforcement targeting the drug traffickers in the area has been occurring all week,” police said in an online statement.
The department says they are aware that a new fence has gone up in the area and that it could "create some displacement."
The fence at a neighbouring site owned by BC housing ist getting installed after the online content showed a man in a hooded sweater selling drugs on the sidewalk.
Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps told C-FAX that BC Housing was had plans to put in an extra fence for months and it wasn't sparked by the online videos.
Police say an investigation is on-going with the people in the video.
