A suspect in number of break and enters committed in parking garages is in custody, and VicPd are crediting an alert resident, and a K-9 team.
Just before 3 am this morning VicPd were summoned to a residential building in the 100-block of Kimta Road in Vic West after a resident noticed someone suspicious entering the underground parking area.
The resident had taken note of an earlier VicPd alert about a rash of underground parking thefts, as well as the suspect's description, and called police immediately.
But when officers searched the garage, they initially didn't find the suspect. But when a A VicPD K9 team alerted on the trunk of a car officers investigated and found the suspect had crawled in and accidentally locked himself in.
He was arrested without incident.
Investigators have been looking into 23 separate cases of thefts committed in parking garages. They are encouraging those with information to come forward.
