Hundreds of police officers, sheriffs, corrections officers and first responders from across the province attended the B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial at the Legislature Sunday.
For the first time since the death of RCMP constable Sarah Beckett in April 2016, a massive outpouring of support and remembrance of officer's like Sarah who died in the line of duty.
Brad Aschenbrenner, Beckett's husband was there to lay a wreath for his wife.
"It's important that we recognize the sacrifice of these officer's it's also important that we show our support to the families of the fallen." Staff Sergeant Rick Stewart says the event coincided with ceremonies across the country in honour of Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day, held on the second Sunday of September.
