West Shore RCMP have arrested what they describe as two prolific offenders who are now suspected in countless mail box break-ins and thefts.
In the early morning hours of Saturday May 27th police were called to check out a suspicious vehicle parked in the 3100 block of Jacklin Road.
Officers found two men inside a rented black Mercedes-Benz and arrested them for possession of a supected controlled substance.
Cst. Alex Bérubé says a subsequent search of the car uncovered break-in instruments and several hundred pieces of stolen mail from Greater Victoria, the lower mainland, and BC Interior.
“Police were able to review video surveillance footage that captured one of the same suspects in the same vehicle breaking into a community mailbox located inside the apartment complex and again leaving with all the content of that mailbox.”
And Bérubé says in a separate investigation into a mailbox break-in on Peatt Rd it appears one of the suspects was also captured on video surveillance:
A 29-year-old man from Burnaby and a 28-year-old man from Maple Ridge are facing multiple charges.
The stolen mail has been turned out to Canada Post to be returned to their rightful owners.
