The province says its portion of the cost from last year's visit from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their two children was over $613-thousand dollars.
The province's announcement today follows last week's revelation the RCMP spent around $2-million dollars on policing costs during the royal couple's eight day tour of the province, which included several events in Victoria as well as stops in Vancouver, Kelowna, Bella Bella, and Haida Gwaii.
From the province's $613-thousand dollar contribution, over $100-thousand was for administrative services and supplies; $196-thousand went toward security; $27-thousand was used to transport the royal family and their household and staff to and from Canada and within BC; and $28-thousand was spent on the travel of BC government officials and staff.
The provincial government says its contribution was part of a cost sharing agreement with the federal government. Specifics of the federal contribution have not been announced.
