There's been a major fentanyl trafficking bust in Chemainus.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP began an investigation in February, targeting drug traffickers operating throughout the Cowichan Valley.
Three search warrants were executed in Crofton and Chemainus last month to seize evidence used in the trafficking of fentanyl, including drugs, packaging and cash.
Drugs including fentanyl and crystal meth were seized, as well as firearms, counterfeit currency, cash and other items used in the drug trade.
23 year old Taygen Mitchell Butler, 22 year old James Otis Downey, 41 year old Christopher Lee Hamilton and 43 year old Timothy James Greer have been charged with Trafficking and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Trafficking charges are expected for 9 other individuals while various firearms offences under the Criminal Code are also being recommended.
The investigation has revealed the drugs seized were intended for sale to other drug traffickers and users in the Cowichan Valley.
