Victoria's Royal Theatre is getting a $400-thousand dollar boost from the federal government.
The money will go towards upgrading the audio system and projectors.
Royal and McPherson Theatre Societies President Byron Smith says they'll install something called a "line array" audio system, which will bring them up to speed with other theatres in Canada. "It's a great advantage as an island venue because those touring groups that come to us are already incurring additional costs of putting trucks on ferries, so now they don't also have to rent line array systems."
The money is part of $168-million dollars from the Department of Canadian Heritage that's going to renovate arts and heritage facilities across the country.
