Federal Green leader Elizabeth May is engaged to a man from the BC interior -- but the MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands says she has no plans to move away from the island, and intends to run again next year:
" I live in Sidney. I'm not moving. I'm the member of parliament for Saanich-Gulf Islands. I hope I will continue to be so. But in 2019 I also hope I will go back to parliament with a whole lot more company in a Green caucus, and hopefully we'll see ourselves with a minority government in Ottawa where a caucus of Greens can make a really big difference, as we've seen in British Columbia. "
May, 65, and her fiance, 71 year old John Kidder, will be married in Victoria on Earth Day -- April 22nd.
Kidder is a founder of the provincial Green Party, and a retired technology entrepreneur. He now runs a hops farm in Ashcroft, and is the brother of actress Margot Kidder.
