Saanich Police are issuing a warning after 2 similar sexual assaults in the Lambrick Park and Gordon Head Rec Centre area took place almost 2 weeks apart.
Both assaults took place while women walked away from their group to urinate in the bushes.
The first incident took place, June 11 near midnight, in the 4000 block of Larchwood Dr, where the suspect jumped off of his bike, landed on the woman, then sexually assaulted her.
In last night's incident, just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Torquay Dr., an unknown man ran at a woman, knocked her to the ground, then stood overtop of her and sexually assaulted her.
According to Saanich Staff Sergeant Jereme Leslie, Saanich PD isn't certain if it's the same suspect but the descriptions are very similar.
"We're uncertain at this time if it's 2 separate people or one individual the suspect descriptions are very similar. The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 18-25, with a thin build, thin face, and brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a grey hoodie, and was riding a black or grey bike with red rim tires."
Police did not say why they waited almost 2 weeks to notify the public but they are asking anyone with information on either of these incidents to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
