Instead of celebrating the second birthday of her daughter today, a local woman is pleading for help in finding the toddler.
"If I had one birthday wish for you, Kaydance, it would be that you would be found and brought back to Canada."
Tasha Brown and spouse Lauren Etchells had Kaydance through a donor process in 2014.
Last year, the couple separated. Then, in April, while custody proceedings were taking place, Etchells lied to the passport office to get a Canadian passport for Kaydance, directly disobeying a court order.
The following month, Lauren and her new partner, Marco van der Merwe, fled the country, taking Kaydance and Marco's child on a flight from Vancouver to London, England, and then on a flight from England to France.
Brown says authorities don't know where they're residing now.
"Abduction is just a word to anybody that hasn't experienced it. Even if you are a parent, you could never begin to know the suffering of not knowing where your child is."
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of 31-year old Lauren Etchells. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of her or Kaydence Etchells is urged to contact Saanich Police.
