Saanich Police arrested a man after an assault on a BC Transit supervisor Friday morning.
Officers were called to the 3400 block of Douglas Street near the Uptown Mall for a report of a physical altercation about 8:30 a.m.
When they arrived they found 2 BC Transit employees holding down a man who was intoxicated and yelling. Officers learned the man had boarded a BC Transit bus, refused to pay and then refused to leave the bus. The BC Transit driver then contacted a supervisor who arrived on scene to speak to the man.
However, when the supervisor explained to the man he would have to leave, the intoxicated man assaulted him. The 2 ended up on the ground, the transit driver stepped inand the pair held the man there until police arrived.
Police arrested a 28 year old Victoria man who is known to them. One charge of assault and one charge of obstructing police are being recommended.
