A Saanich Police dog is getting the credit for a collar Tuesday night.
It started with a domestic assault call. The suspect fled the home after reportedly assaulting family members.
Dog handler Cst. Aaron Thompson and his canine partner Asher were called in. Asher tracked the scent for nearly a kilometre before finding the suspect hiding in Hyacinth Park.
He was taken into custody safely, and has since been released. He'll be appearing in court next month.
Saanich PD tweeted their congratulations out to Asher with the hashtag "good dog".
