Saanich Police say a 21-year-old man from Duncan is facing charges after he was spotted by officers spray painting the side of Saanich Municipal Hall just hours after he was released from Police headquarters right next door for public intoxication.
Earlier on Friday, officers were alerted by security at Uptown Shopping Centre at 10:00am to a man who was reportedly too intoxicated to take care of himself.
It was then discovered the man was breaking probation by drinking so police arrested him and held him until he was released sober later that day.
Around one hour after release, police say they noticed him spray painting Saanich Town Hall right next door with a small amount of drugs on him which again broke probation.
" We made this decision in order to protect the public from further offences. We will continue to target prolific offenders and work with the courts to prevent future offences," said acting st/sg Phil Davies.
Police say they will hold him in custody until an appearance before a judge.
