Saanich police are looking for a man who they say is armed and dangerous following 2 robberies in the area of Quadra and McKenzie Tuesday afternoon. Just after 1:30 PM police were called to a possible fight in the area of Saanich Centre in which a weapon was reportedly involved. Out of caution they notified Reynolds Secondary to go into "hold and secure" mode while they handled the situation.
At the scene they learned that a London Drugs Loss Prevention Officer had stopped a man outside of the Saanich Centre for shoplifting. The suspect then pointed a black handgun and fled the scene headed south on the Lochside Regional Trail. Once on the trail the suspect robbed a person of their black Miele electric bike.
After looking at video surveillance footage Saanich police have identified the suspect as 37 year old Michael Godolphin. He is described as a white man, 5’7" tall, 175 pounds, with a shaved head. He has a tear drop tattoo near his right eye, as well as a written tattoo encircling the back sides of his neck. Godolphin was last seen wearing black straight legged Adidas pants with three white vertical stripes down the side, a black T-shirt, and a black hooded jacket with white writing on the chest.
He is wanted for robbery with a firearm and has warrants for his arrest for other criminal code offences. Police say Godolphin is considered to be armed and dangerous and advise if you do see him not to approach, and call 9-1-1 immediately.
