Saanich Police are looking into multiple cases of child sexual offences following the arrest of a Central Saanich man.
In July, a parent reported her two sons, under the age of 10, may have been victims of sexual offences. Following an investigation a suspect was identified as 30 year old Johnathon Lee Robichaud of Central Saanich, who had been employed as the family's nanny.
During their investigation, detectives uncovered a large amount of images and videos, containing sexually explicit material involving children. Police were able to identify another victim through the material gathered. They also believe there may be more victims.
Police say Robichaud lived in the Greater Victoria area for a significant period of time and he was known to work and volunteer for church and youth groups, child care facilities and before and after school programs. He has also advertised himself on various nanny websites and local classified ads.
The BC Prosecution Service has currently approved criminal charges Robichaud, including one count of Sexual Interference, two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching, and one count of Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child.
They say Robichaud is currently on conditions to not be in contact with children under the age of 16, not to attend recreation centres, daycares, schools, churches, parks or any other place a child under the age of 16 could reasonably be.
Saanich Police are asking anyone whose child may have been in contact with Robichaud to contact them.
