Residents of a Saanich apartment building spent some tense hours, some behind the doors of their suites, while Saanich Police investigated an early morning incident Friday.
Police were responding to what was thought to be a weapons-related incident at an apartment building at 880 Vernon Avenue. Around 7 a.m., a tenant reported seeing what was thought to be a weapon.
The building was locked down while officers conducted an extensive search, with residents either directed to leave or shelter in place. No weapon was found.
One man has been apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for assessment.
