A search is underway in Sooke Harbour for a 40-year-old man after a canoe was found adrift in the water, and a paddle was found washed up on shore.
The abandoned canoe is believed to belong to James Milito, who lives on a sailboat also anchored in the harbour.
Searchers found his dog onboard the sailboat, but Milito was nowhere to be found.
The Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre as well as Juan de Fuca Ground Search and Rescue are involved in the search.
Milito is described as 180 pounds, caucasian, with short brown hair. Sooke RCMP ask anyone who has seen him over the past 3 days, or who may have information on his whereabouts.
