The B.C. government has announced the company who will be in charge of online sale of non-medicinal cannabis in the province.
Shopify Inc., the company selected, is expected to launch their online store in the fall, after federal legalization on October 17th.
The company had to meet several criteria to be chosen including creating two separate websites -- one for consumers and the other for private retail stores, enabling age verification, and having a technology- and service-driven customer care centre.
To help prevent sales to youth, couriers will also be required to perform age verification at the time of delivery.
