Heavy snow fall Monday caused some Vancouver Island school districts to close Tuesday, but others remain open
•Greater Victoria School District is open and buses are running. But, Superintendent Piet Langstraat says families should make their own decisions about whether it’s safe to come in.
•St Michael's University School is open.
•University of Victoria is open.
•Camosun College campuses are open
•Royal Roads University campus is open.
•Saanich School District is closed.
•Sooke School District is closed.
•Gulf Island School District is closed
•Cowichan Valley School District is closed
•St. Margaret’s School
•Island Catholic School are closed
•Light House Christian Academy in Langford is closed today.
•Pacific Christian School is closed
•Elizabeth Buckley School is closed.
•Art Calibre, both the Cedar Hill and Tyndall campuses, are closed.
•Discovery School in Victoria is closed.
•Queen Margaret School in Duncan is also closed for the second day.
•The Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry is closed.
•Discover House Early Childhood Learning Centre is closed.
•Cridge Centre Daycare is open, but school-aged care is closed
•Juan de Fuca Seniors Centre in Colwood is closed
•Both Silver Threads centres are closed today
•Cook Street Village Activity Centre is closed
•Arcadian Early Learning Program in Duncan is closed today
•St Christopher's Montessori School is closed today
•All Oak Bay Recreation Centres are open today
Delays and detours are to be expected -- but Victoria Transit buses are operating this morning. Spokesperson Jonathan Dyck warns that thing could change as they day progresses. BC Transit has put up details on their website and on their Facebook page.
Here are the problems we know about so far (as of 8am Tuesday. 5 routes have been modified because of road conditions.
•Route 2A
•Route -56/57
•Route -64, which is currently not servicing East Sooke
•Route -83 is detoured because of a tree down on West Saanich Road. The road is closed from McTavish to Mt. Newton.
