Oak Bay police are crediting an alert 16 year old boy with calling in a fire that appears to have been set in a public washroom Saturday night.
At about 7:40 pm the young man was cycling by the Willows Beach area, saw smoke coming from the washroom building, and called 911.
Oak Bar fire crews responded and quickly doused a blaze they found burning inside the men's washroom.
It's believed the paper towel dispenser was set on fire. The dispenser was destroyed and there was smoke damage to the building. The fire is under investigation as suspicious.
Police ask anyone who may have seen something suspicious in that area to contact them or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
