Victoria police are kicking their Holiday impaired driving campaign into high gear starting this Saturday night. Checkpoints will be set up throughout the city of Victoria and the township of Esquimalt over the next 2 months, screening drivers for alcohol or drug impairment.
Vic PD tell CFAX 1070 News that "Unfortunately, impaired driving is still an issue in our community. VicPD removed 34 drivers, impaired by either alcohol or drugs, from our roads in the month of October alone."
According to ICBC, impairment remains one of the top three contributing factors for fatal car crashes. 64 British Columbians were killed by impaired drivers in 2014.
